Where are the houseboats built?
The houseboats that Houseboat Lake Powell uses are manufactured in Kentucky. The most experienced manufacturing company in the US, Sharpe Houseboats of Somerset, Kentucky, manufactures our houseboats. They are the world's leader in houseboat manufacturing with a state of the art manufacturing facility as well as service and sales support.
How can shared ownership be less than houseboat rentals?
If you were to add up the cost of $12,000.00 per week (7 days) houseboat rental charges for a 75 foot rental houseboat in prime season and compare it to the purchase price of a Houseboat Lake Powell house boat, it is easy to see the savings after 3-4 years versus houseboat rental charges. Our shared ownership program is for friends, families and corporations who want to experience a luxury quality vacation for years to come. You can also take into consideration the re-sale value if and when you are ready to sell. A houseboat may also be considered a second home, which could also result in tax savings for and individual or corporation. We have many corporations purchase time shares, thus, providing more benefits than houseboat rentals.
How is the houseboat managed?
A limited liability company (LLC) is set up for all of the owners of each houseboat. Houseboat Lake Powell of Salt Lake City, Utah will manage the LLC with input from all time share owners. You as an LLC member together with other time share members have voting rights and will make all decisions. An annual meeting will be held to elect officers and review the boat's status, discussing items that may need to be addressed. Antelope Point Marina Page, Az. will manage the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the houseboat. A comprehensive maintenance program has also been set up with Antelope Point Marine, an independent company from Houseboat Lake Powell to ensure the highest quality care and service of your house boat.
What is a Launch and Retrieve Program? What does it cost?
With the popularity of house boating at Lake Powell, and the limited space at the dock/slip marinas, a program has been developed to allow more vacationers to enjoy the house boat experience. The Lake, being so vast and secluded, was limited by the lack of dock/slip space. Just as one would launch and retrieve a powerboat, so goes your houseboat on a giant trailer. Wow, you think? It is truly a great operation. Upon arrival at the dry dock your car can be driven driving along side your house boat. It is then easily loaded with personal belongings, food, and lake toys. After your loading is complete, the boat is taken to the lake and "launched." If you wish, our Harbor Pilot, at your request will take you "out to sea". Once clear of all other vessels, obstacles and docks, you are given control of the ship and you are on your way. Upon your Lake Powell vacations end, it all works in reverse. It is truly a pleasant experience The cost of this service is $650.00. This cost includes the cost to the transport the houseboat, service to gas, water, and drain sewage. All cleaning and trash removal is included. Windows are washed inside and out, and the outside hull of the house boat and decks are power washed and cleaned. This is all done in preparation for the arrival of the next owner. The houseboat is always cleaned and sanitized to the same luxury standard. You simply unload your belongings, much like you did when you arrived and head home from a wonderful Lake Powell vacation.
How much are yearly maintenance fees?
Antelope Point Launch & Retrieve 13 owner houseboats will average $1,800 per year in maintenance fees. $2,100 for 10 owner houseboats. Add about $1,200 more for Antelop Point Slip houseboats. (See Avilability page for exact amounts.) This fee includes insurance, annual, and winter storage as well as a fund for annual or unexpected repairs or additions.

What is the actual size of the houseboat?
Lake Powell for many years has restricted the length of houseboats to 75 feet. This is still the rule; therefore our houseboats conform to the standards and rules of Lake Powell. However, we can assure you that our houseboats measure a true 75' in length. There are a few that advertise a 75' house boat only to discover that the houseboat is only 72' with a 3 foot slide off the back. Only 3 feet short you say? 3 feet adds up to plenty on an outside deck or a family room/kitchen at dinnertime. At Houseboat Lake Powell, we mean what we say. 75' equals 75'. In addition, we do not deliver houseboats with goofy aft deck main salon floor plan. We deliver traditional houseboats. |
